On the 26 January the Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg was inaugurated with great pomp and circumstance. The hotel lobby flaunts a 9 meters long cut glass diamond – the reception desk signed Lena Bergström and Orrefors.

In the fall of 2011 Orrefors received a request from Clarion Hotel Post’s owner Petter Stordalen to create something unique for the new hotel’s lobby. “I want a gigantic cut glass diamond,” the request said. Orrefors designer Lena Bergström enthusiastically jumped at the chance and this is how she describes her creation:

“I want to give people the impression that the desk has grown out of the core of the earth like a magnificent, enormous diamond. I chose the black granite top and plinth and the base and sides to reinforce the sense that it had been mined from the earth.
